USDF Bronze medalist (2 scores away from Silver) Trainer/Instructor Samantha Fairfield moved back to her home state of Maine in Spring 2016 from her beloved state of Oregon, where she and her husband, Jeff Fairfield resided for 11 years, running a very successful Equestrian facility and stone mason business in Sisters, OR. Having two young children, they wanted to be closer to family, with more competition opportunities for dressage in New England.
Growing up in Pony Club on the East Coast, Samantha's experience is in, but not limited to, Dressage, Eventing, and Hunter/Jumpers. As a child and young rider Samantha was fortunate to have many wonderful instructors of varying disciplines. Riding whatever she could, whenever she could from Saddleseat, Western, Competitive Trail, Showmanship, Foxhunting, Gymkhana, Dressage, Eventing, to Hunters and Jumpers.
Samantha has extensive experience training and showing all breeds of horses and riders of any level from just beginning to the FEI levels. For over 30 years Samantha has been showing extensively and successfully up and down the East and West Coasts winning numerous year end rider and breed awards.
Upon moving to Bend, OR. in 2007 Samantha was fortunate to work extensively training FEI Endurance horses as well. With a strong emphasis on cross-training and bio-mechanics she can help any horse and rider improve their strength and stamina in the Endurance disciplines. With a focused, slow, holistic approach, always setting the horse and rider up for success, Samantha and her students have enjoyed fun, happy and successful show careers with emphasis on FUN, correct riding and training.
Samantha holds a Masters degree in Complimentary Alternative Medicine and Holistic Nutrition through the American College of Health Care Sciences and a bachelors from Eastern Oregon University in Literature and Writing. She believes in constantly educating herself and her students. Samantha has worked over the years, and continues to work on a regular basis with many top respected trainers and clinicians encouraging her students to do so as well.
Also a licensed Massage/Polarity practitioner for Equines, Canines, and Humans, and a 500hr Registered Yoga teacher Samantha believes in a sound mind and body and incorporates bodywork and yoga into her training program for horse and rider.
When Samantha is not in the barn or in the office, you can find her out running or hiking on trails, competing in spartan races, doing cross fit, snowshoeing, cycling, kayaking, and being a momma to her two little girls who are just as horse crazy as she is. She is currently planning on getting her NASM Personal Trainer/Corrective exercise certification so she can assist others in meeting personal physical and nutritional goals.
“The training of the horse and rider should be slow, correct, tailored to each individual, with emphasis on building confidence, strength, and most of all happiness. Without happiness one cannot succeed to their fullest potential.” SGF
"A horse will never tire of a rider who possesses both tact and sensitivity because he will never be pushed beyond his possibilities." Nuno Oliviera
